Question #4:

Help on helping a vegetarian?

long story short, my sister likes to call herself a vegetarian.
a few years ago, she saw a PETA video or two, and swore off meat forever.

the problem is... she is extremely uneducated about the idea of a balanced diet.
rather than eating from the "vegetarian food pyramid" and simply just omitting meat from her daily life, she quit eating most regular foods altogether (mainly because she found out what jell-o is made of) and started eating "obviously" meat-less things.
basically... rather than research what goes into her food, or make her own food, she has decided to only eat a few things that she knows don't have meat.

this wouldn't be a problem, if she was eating vegetable stir-fry or salad... but she has resorted to eating (all exaggerations aside) 3 or 4 ramen noodle packets a day, and drinking soda and powerade (because she doesn't "like" milk). occasionally she will eat some carrots with ranch, or veggie fried rice... but she clearly has a horrible diet.
BUT every time someone brings it up, she fires back that we "don't accept her choice" or something along those lines.
honestly, no one cares that she doesn't eat meat. but because no one else became a vegetarian when she did, so she takes a "one girl against the world" stance when we try to talk to her. (it doesn't help that she is 15 haha)

i guess i'm just looking for advice on how to try to talk her into a better diet.
she lives across the country with my father, and i don't see her/them that much. though obviously my father is allowing her to eat this way, i think that it is purely because he is just too old to argue with her every day anymore.
that being said... she doesn't like to cook or anything, so veggie recipes would fall on deaf ears.
i guess i'm looking more for "ready made" vegetarian products, or companies that only use vegetarian-friendly products. simple, yet healthy vegetarian and teenager-friendly foods lol.
^_^

thanks in advance
=)

Question #5:

What have you put Nutritional Yeast on?

I've used Nutritional Yeast on ramen noodles (eaten like pasta not soup, without the sodium packet), pop corn, salads (lettuce, veggies), baked potatoes, and I've even made mac and "cheese" with it ( Click Here ).

So, I'm looking for some new ideas. Either for items to sprinkle Nutritional Yeast on, or for dishes to make with it. Once eggplants are back in season (or at least at my grocery store), Eggplant "Parmesan" (or should I say "Eggplant Nutritional Yeast"? lol) will be on the menu.

Also, have you ever put Nutritional Yeast on something and had it not taste good?

Question #6:

how can i make my brother eat what my mother cooks?

he never, ever eats what my mother cooks. she ends up cooking the meal and then something else for him because he refuses to eat what she made. he doesn't even try to eat it. simple things like spaghetti, chili, tuna, etc. things with vegetable mostly, outside of salad. things he WILL eat are roasted potatoes, salad, mashed potatoes, corn, etc.

but mostly his diet is crappy. he mostly eats rice (that's what replaces most of her meals). the food at his school (he's 13). junk food, ramen noodles. he doesn't eat very well at all. for instance, if we buy chips, he'll eat the entire bag in almost one sitting. i'm concerned with his diet and the fact that he won't eat what my mother cooks. how can we get him to eat more healthily and realize that he can't have a separate meal cooked for him every day?

Question #8:

Been a vegetarian for three months, but mom won't buy me food :(?

okay I've been a vegetarian since early September and I feel like I'm always hungry. I asked my mom to buy me food but she always say "You should eat what everybody else in the house eats and you won't have to worry about being hungry. There were a couple of times when she would buy me salad and fruit, but other than that she dosen't buy me anything. I'm tired of eating cereal and plain ramen noodles without the sauce. I'm 17 and want to get a job but because my mom works late she can't take me to work. And I though about catching the city bus, but they stop running at 9:00. My dad would take me and pick me up, but he always out of town because he drives trucks.

Question #13:

Is there any way to tell someone that they are a HORRIBLE cook?

I have a friend who is THE WORST cook in THE WORLD.
She is constantly inviting us & our friends over for dinner & everything she makes is absolutely 100% horrible!!!!! Everyone says so!
And everytime she tries a new "recipe" she will make it over & over again & keep bringing it to every get together. Then asking everyone why they don't like it & why they didn't eat it & she will keep on for the whole evening - annoying everyone!
The most recent thing she made was a "salad." The main ingredient was uncooked ramen noodles. This was mixed with the seasoning packet from the ramen noodles, celery, onions, cheese, mustard, and chopped up bologna!!! She made it & brought it to four different get togethers. SO nasty.
Now - I have a holiday party at Christmas time every year & I prepare all of the food. I would not say I'm a great cook by any stretch of the imagination - but I do try recipes that appeal to a lot of people & I never have any leftovers any time I cook for people.
This friend insists on bringing some horrible dish that she makes to my party every year. Everyone always asks me - Oh my GOD - who made that horrible (fill in the blank.)???
What is a polite way to tell her - PLEASE - DON'T bring any food to my party - you are an awful cook.
And please quit cooking for our get togethers & please don't try to invite us to dinner any more cuz you cook like crap!
I made chicken enchiladas a few weeks ago - and she tried to give me her "recipe" for them. The recipe consisted of corn tortillas, KETCHUP, velveta, and butter. Do you get the idea?
What do I do?
